I'll keep trying for a clearer picture. The nut has been re-cut so that the 4th, 5th and 6ths strings have the lower octave on the upper side. For finger picking, this means that your RH thumb hits the lower string first. For the 3rd string, your 'i' finger hits the lower octave first.
